Study and sketch

The top image is a painting I started in my Portrait Painting class. Hopefully I'll get some time to finish it over the break. The bottom drawing is a sketch I did while I was watching "Glee." Lea Michele, your voice is amazing!

So for the last six weeks the drawing board has been put away and we have moved on to making maquettes of our characters! Here is the original sketch for mine, and photos of what it looks like about ten hours in! I have to say, it feels so nice using my hands. Making something three dimensional is amazingly different, but fun as well. I am finding that I don't really need to use reference for this, as my hands just realize that the form doesn't feel right. Not always true with drawing.

Oh and please excuse her lack of head. Her face looks a bit like Freddy Kruger's right now, so I thought it would be best to leave it off :)

So here we are, something a bit more professional :)
